How dangerous is it to go suicide?

by: pnm

I really only love one sorority. If I go suicide I was told that it would reduce my chances of getting into any of them, including the one I love. Is this true?

this is true because the system rewards those that maximize your options. If you suicide and you are not matched with your top house before they reach quota, you get no bid, but if you maximize your options and you arent matched to either house before they reach quota then the system rewards you as a quota addition (no one knows who is a qa) and you could still go to your top house. this is how sororities go over quota

I suicided my sorority because I just couldn’t see myself actually initiating into the other one. You have to ask yourself if you’d rather join your second choice or potentially not have a bid at all. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you really don’t think you will want to be in your second choice but you still pref them and get a bid, you will be banned from all Panhellenic activities until next rush. That means no panny preview or any other event that could help you rush as a sophomore. If you suicide and get no bid, you can still go to rush events and try again (and there is a possibility of getting a snap bid)

If you suicide, make sure the sorority you do t want knows you’re not interested (be polite about it though). If not it messes with the algorithm and you’ll be more likely to be dropped.
