Tridelt, Alpha Chi, Kappa, Chio

by: PNM

These are my top four right now and I don't know how to narrow it down. I've gone on rush dates with these girls and can't figure out where I see myself best. What are some honest similarities and differences between these sororities?

okay so I’m gonna try and be as least biased as possible, but I am human so take this and anything you read on here w a grain of salt friend!!

gals are often stuck between ChiO and tri delta
- both have a strong faith background and I think would def push you towards your faith
- I know sometimes ChiO’s are gonna be a little more outward about their faith, with posting in on insta. While tri delts also super duper value their faith just aren’t going to tell you as much but just like show it in action.
- tri delta has a higher average GPA So maybe a little higher focus on academics
- ChiO has an awesome presence on campus and a lot of different events and take their chapter seriously

I don’t know much about axo or kappa. I’ve heard a couple times people say if you don’t rush Kappa with a group of gals it can be hard to find your people. But the kappas i know seem to really love their chapter and are super involved.

I hope this was helpful!!

tridelta cares heavily about philanthropy & academics. they are down to earth girls who don’t care about what you look like when rushing girls. they look for kind people who will get along with everyone and who values serving others.

alpha chi (axo) are very fun girls. you will find them at most parties and they have a chill vibe to them. these girls embody their “real strong women” motto. most lean left politically and are respectful & well liked on campus. they are rising to the top fast.

i don’t know many kappas but many of them fit the stereotype of being super rich. the few kappas i know are nice but i know many people that say kappas are rude, so i guess it depends who you know. kappas are pretty athletic at baylor & cut many girls so even if you think you’re getting kappa, find a backup because they have the reputation of leading girls on & then cutting at the end.

chio looks fun but i think they struggle with having a real sisterhood. they put on a good show with all their events + their sorority instagram, but everyone who’s been here longer than a year knows how they really act. i know a few awesome girls in chio but the majority are in the rat race of trying to be the most well-liked. gives me pick me girl vibes.

go chi o if you want to be excluded and not valued as a member but want a good Instagram.

chi o, kappa, and pi phi all got in trouble w panhellenic for breaking rules this year and that should speak volumes

I can’t speak for tri delt or chi o much because I wasn’t interested in them from the get-go, but I was split between kappa and alpha chi during rush week! Here’s what helped me choose:
Sisterhood: This was the most important thing for me. Both kappas and axos seem to be pretty close to each other, but kappas have more of a “I only hang out with kappas” vibe. Also, I did notice that kappa friendships tended to be a bit more superficial, but the axos I met would have been just as close even if they weren’t in the same sorority.
Involvement: Philanthropy was a pretty big deal for me. I loved kappas old philanthropy (reading is fun), but it sadly became pretty clear that they weren’t super involved with it. Especially considering they dropped it this year for the sole reason of not getting compared to pi phi. In all honesty, axo isn’t as involved with their philanthropy but they do have plenty of opportunities to get involved if you want! This one was kind of a draw for me.
Socials: Kappa promotes their image of being popular social butterflies pretty hard, but the truth is that they mainly hang out with kappa sigs. Nothing wrong with that, but I was looking for a more well-rounded group. Kappas are invited to every party but frats don’t have the greatest opinion of them. Axos aren’t as diehard about any frats and they do associate with ka a lot, but they’re chill with all of them. For this one, it’s a tough call between officially pairing with a top frat but not being respected versus officially pairing with a bottom frat but being liked by all of them.

Academics: this one is pretty obvious. Axo has tons of girls from every major and lots of girls who are going to some kind of graduate school. Kappas are mainly communications majors. Also, a lot of them say some very stereotypical dumb-blonde things, even on rush dates. I had a girl tell me that “she was too pretty to do homework and her professors would understand”. She and her 50 missing assignments were being dead serious.
