How did they decide who to cut?

by:

I heard none of the pnms got to talk to people during their open house so how did the chapters decide who to cut?

Well yeah but no. Like I said below, A lot of Baylor girls work w rush coaches to help them w resume, recs, etc. when they turn them in earlier, the sororities know they’re interested and ask them out during fall semester. Sooo, that means the PNMs who go on rush dates fall semester get prioritized bc the sororities already know them and vote on them during rush. It’s all decided before round 1 - round 1 is literally just a formality. It’s about knowing what to do before rush that gets you a bid. Rush itself is really a formality.

Some of the strongest PNMs are being cut by chapters that rushed them hard. Not making sense at this point.

Reach out to someone who rushed you and she might be able to provide some clarity!

What happens is sororitys get back the results of how the pnms over all ranked them. So sometimes srats will “rush hard” pnms that they don’t actually intend on taking in their pc so that their rankings are high at the end of recruitment. Pnms are more likely to list the house that has been rushing them hard on their top choice and thus the sorority gets good statistics to send to their nationals. It’s a dishonest and misleading practice and I really wish chapters would stop doing it.

My sister goes to A&M and they did the same thing there for Rush in fall. They prob cut based on if they know the girls then the video and references, resume. That's the way it goes.

If all things are equal (grades, honors, activities) and you get cut, the sorority thought one of two things. Either they felt that you would shine brighter in another chapter, or there was another girl who they felt would shine more brightly for them. Remember, you are not in the driver's seat. Go with the flow, and love who you have.

I swear they just looked at appearance and cut based off of that. I rushed one sorority SO hard and they cut me before I even talked to an active member. How can you judge someone off a one minute video? If you aren't pretty and blonde or a legacy you're screwed in my opinion.

Rush dates help for knowing girls before recruitment. If you’ve met a lot of people, you’re more likely to make it further into the week.

a rip in the chat to all the amazing girls who got cut based off of a one minute video. Not GPA, not a lack of recommendation letters, not a lack of high school activities, and not lack of participating in rush dates. Just a one minute video...

The videos were just an introduction. They didn’t have any impact of who was or wasn’t cut unless someone was a total spaz. Lol.

Open House Round cuts are generally based on Grades, Reputation and Recs. Not all Recs are equal...and not everyone who says they submitted a rec actually did. Or they submitted a negative one!

Remember when you got drunk at that fraternity party and barfed in the bushes? Or inadvertently made out with that guy who turned out to have a girlfriend? Or you flipped off that car full of girls at McDonalds? Well...they are all in the sororities that you’re trying to join now! 😳

By: Remember that time...

I understand those instances, but the majority of girls rushing aren't like that...

You may not remember who you might have crossed in high school who’s mom may have submitted a “no rec”!!! A “no rec” means you are basically blackballed and can never receive a bid from that particular house. It’s bad and it does happen!

I got cut from every house and idk why since I knew a lot of girls and have a good gpa and resume and recs but it sucks that I didn’t even have the chance to speak with a single person and was cut so quickly. I’m so confused by the whole process

yeah this whole virtual recruitment process thing is a bust. I prefer in person that online, it doesn’t get to showcase who you are as a person and what you can contribute. Because I also got cut from a lot of chapters except 1

It doesn't mean we don't like you or you didn't have the GPA, recs, etc. Sometimes we have to invite legacies back and we don't have enough room for a lot of non-legacies or we thought that you were great but other girls would fit in better.
