go greek?
by: hesitant
So I'm the kind of girl who doesn't care much about gossip or the social hierarchy. I'm interested in greek life because I found a group of girls who are really awesome that I would like to spend more time with, and I am legitimately into philanthropic work. I've already found some awesome friends (most of them aren't rushing), and I'm not really into the party scene.
Would I even like being in a sorority?

You should totally go for it! My most important tip and suggestion for you is to get off of this website ASAP, (and I probably need to do the same as well). If you do decide to rush, you'll make friends in your sorority, but hopefully you'll keep the friends that you have now as well. Philanthrophy is a huge part of sorority life, and it was one of the main reasons I decided to join the sorority I'm in now! Also, I was really worried about partying when I was rushing as a freshman, but I honestly don't party at all. Granted, some girls will, some girls won't.
As far as the gossip and social status goes, most of these 'real' and 'official' or whatever ranks are made by people who are bored and like to stir up drama. You're gonna want to ignore them. I'm saying this to myself too as I'm typing this, haha.
TL;DR - do it, homegirl.

There are girls in every sorority who party and don't party , so definitely don't worry about that. As far as "social hierarchy," it absolutely does NOT exist. I guarantee that 3/4 of greek life doesn't know about this site and has no opinion on "tiers" other than that their own sorority is the best :) a lot of this stuff comes from girls who's mom went to baylor and has engraved this stuff in their minds, but in the real world it's just not true.
Even if you have friends now, you can never have too many and eventually are gonna want that deeper connection to this school. I know a lot of people who said they absolutely would never rush freshmen year, and end up rushing sophomore year or even junior year because they felt they were missing something, and trust me it is much harder your sophomore year
