spring rush
by: TransferHi, I'm a freshman looking to transfer to Baylor for the spring semester. Do I have virtually no chance of making it into a Sorority since I don't know anyone at Baylor yet?

There are maybe one or two groups that you could get a bid from in the past without knowing anyone, however every year is getting more competitive so it's going to be very difficult :(
If I were you, I would wait until next fall so that you can actually get to know the groups and go with where you fit best, rather than just hoping for a bid from anyone.

I don't want to lie to you and say getting into a sorority is easy here. It's just as competitive as the other Texas schools. Over 1000 rush, 80-90 member pledge classes, 8 Panhellenic Sororities, doing the math quickly shows you the acceptance rate.
With that being said, Baylor's greek life "in general" care less about money and status since 1. most people already come from a well-off background, 2. Christian school that looks more at a person's character than just their zip code, parents tax forms, etc. (like with the Big 6 at UT).
Hope this helped...

I can't believe someone would give such advice to someone who wants to come here.
Florida had a great greek system that is very active with student government, and seems like a fun place to be, but Baylor is also good in its own ways. There is not a person that does not want greek housing here, but we make it work. TCU and Tech really aren't much better off. Baylor has certain things that makes it great. If you want to come here, I would say go for it, it's not as bad as outsiders make it seem, I promise.
