tips for rush
by: Dallas rusherHey all! I want to join a great frat but have no idea where to start. Can someone give me some pointers and tips? Firstly and most importantly, how do I rush? Also, what should I say or do that makes me look cool in a frats eyes? What about dress attire? I was told by a friend (in a sorority) to dress more preppy, is this true? Thanks!

Thanks for the tips. I appreciate them. I'm also sorry about sounding weird, it was super early and I was kinda out of it. So for dress, I already have a lot of Ralph Lauren but none of that other stuff. Are Levi's acceptable instead of the wrangler type of jeans? I always thought white wash jeans weren't cool but what do I know lol. What type of shoes should I wear instead of sperries?
I just want to join a quality fraternity that has good values and isn't considered a joke. I know most of this stuff on this site is biased and false but what can y'all tell me about the real stuff that fraternities do?
Thanks again guys!

It honestly sounds like you have no idea what your getting yourself into. If you have to ask what to wear and what is cool then you probably aren't the kind of material some fraternities are looking for. Secondly, if you don't like parties or drinking then don't bother rushing anything other than ATO Phi Chi and TKE(Beta too). They will give a bid to just about anyone.

^no need to be rude about it. It shows I was committed. I'm not some typical band geek either, I played baseball my freshmen year and throughout middle school. I actually don't wear affliction, I wear Ralph Lauren, BKE/Big Star/true religion jeans, and a variety of tshirts from Dillard's, Nordstrom, Macy's, and TJmaxx and Nike shoes. While this may not be what rich kids wear, I am from an Upper-middle class family and am usually considered a good dresser. I drive a jeep too. I feel like this serves as a good credential to join a frat.
I noticed many of y'all mentioned tke and pikap. How are those groups?
Thanks and keep the hate to a minimum

Thanks for all the advice y'all. It is appreciated. To answer some o y'all's concerns, I am truly wanting it. I understand that it's a busy, yet fun, lifestyle choice. I'm not confused and know myself very well.i want it because i feel that I can grow a lot and also help others grow too, in life that is.
Anyways, why is it that y'all recommend ATO, Pi Kapp, Sog Ep, Beta, and the others? Is it obvious that I'm not meant for the others? What about the others such as SAE or Sigma Chi?
I don't think it's fair to limit myself to those fraternities listed either. I may be very well a match for others, considering y'all don't really know how I'll be in a group setting.
Thanks again. Keep the advice coming!
