Why is greek life not as strong here as other schools in Texas (UT, TCU, SMU, etc.)

It's popular and is well supported but one big, big thing is holding back baylor: HOUSES. No real houses=weaker Greek life.

Plus, too many geeds

They're are unofficial houses that act as frat houses. The same goes for sororities.

One thing is that Panhellenic tries to place as many girls in a sorority as possible. Last year quota at UT was about 60. BU's was around 85. I know UT has quite a few more houses but WAY more girls go through rush there. BU doesn't want it to be cut-throat so it's not as selective as those other schools. When 3/4 of the girls going through rush get a bid, it's a good thing but some might argue that the quality of the system as a whole goes down. When my mom was at BU in the late 80s, it was a lot harder to get a bid in a top sorority than it is today.

IFC asked Baylor to add more sororities, no response yet

I don't think adding another sorority will help much unless it's really strong nationally. BU already had KD and DG and those didn't work out. I can't think of another strong group to come on that would help the Greek system get stronger.

Maybe DZ?

DZ isn't very strong at any of the Texas schools or the Big 12 schools either. I'm not sold on them. I really think DG is a much better fit but I've heard that just isn't in the cards.

If groups on campus worked more to help each other than put down each other, my opinion

This is the main reason.

Working together is great but that won't help reduce the number of pledges. 85 girls is WAY too many girls for a sorority to handle with just has a chapter room. That number is much higher than UT, TAMU, TCU, SMU or TTech. BU needs another sorority to make the numbers more manageable.
