sub dinners

by:

Which sororities have the friendliest, most welcoming SUB dinners and which ones are more awkward and uncomfortable? Have the sororities already picked out their top recruits to target at SUB dinners? I'm from out of state and don't know anyone so I'm nervous about going to these events.

Just go to each one and see where you feel comfortable. There are a few sororities where you can already tell if they're interested in you or not but it's better to know that so you don't waste your time trying to rush them.

School hasn't even started yet so there's no way that any of us can tell who we're interested in or not! I would definitely attend all of the SUB dinners if you want, and rush whatever you feel comfortable with, not based on others negative opinions about sororities! This website really does a horrible job of providing a accurate view of greek life, I promise we don't all hate each other! :)
A good way to meet new people is to go to Line Camp! You might recognize some familiar faces once you attend the dinners. As long as you put yourself out there and pursue the sororities you want, you'll be fine!

Since the sororities already have our rush packets, will the sorority members already be looking for some particular girls? I've heard certain girls are considered "select" rushees and they'll be given special treatment. If I'm not one of those, can I still get a bid?

no pledge class is set yet, and some from the "select pile" of rushees will actually be dropped as the semester goes on (for attitude, behavior etc. reasons).

Just keep meeting with different sororities at sub dinners and meet as many members as possible.

What exactly do you mean when you say to "rush" them? What do I need to do?

Just make sure you go to sub dinners for every sorority at least a couple times. Otherwise, the actual week of recruitment can be a little awkward because you don't know anyone. I only went to sub dinners for 2 or 3 sororities, and while I still got my choice, I feel like I did better during the week of recruitment at those houses where I already knew girls. When you tell a someone you know their sister, it just gives them one more reason to vote for you.

No way of telling. Sure, all the sororities will be looking for the girls they knew back home, their boyfriend or guy friend's sisters or friends, and anyone from their area, but we're always excited to get surprised by a great girl who just shows up. Make sure to go to a couple of each, or at least one. Go with someone, because it makes it a little less awkward. It's just as hectic, if not more, for us on the other side trying to meet ALL of you.

You really have to seek out ADPi, I tried to go to theirs about four times and they were never where they said they'd be. If you aren't going to a SUB dinner one day, though....avoid the SUB. It's mayhem.
