out of state - will it hurt me?
by: 2022
I almost hate to ask this here, because this site seems kind of insane, but I honestly have no idea where else to ask. I’m going to try to be vague on purpose.
I’m coming to Baylor this fall and want to go through recruitment. No one else in my family is Greek, so I’ve been doing a ton of research at the schools I was considering. I’ve seen that some schools have sororities that are very territorial toward their home states but can’t seem to figure out if Baylor is the same way.
I’m pretty sure that I’m a good candidate on paper, but will being out of state make a huge difference? I was born and raised in a southern state, but my family moved out west when I was in high school if that matters. I don’t know anyone currently at Baylor.
The one thing that I might have going for me is that the church we went to in my home state is the same church my mom grew up in. It seems like everyone there went to Baylor. When she posted on her social media that I had chosen Baylor, a ton of people volunteered to write Recs for me if I wanted to join a sorority. I’ve managed to cover all but two that way, and one of those two will be sent by one of my current teachers.
I guess my question is how will being out of state affect me? I don’t really care about tiers. I’m just looking for a good sisterhood and a fun time. Will most houses cut me for no current connections or being out of state?
