fraternity rankings by campus impact
by: R.E.B. BAYLOR
To get started, I am posting this because it is important someone sets the record straight here. As much as we make fun of this site, everyone knows at least a few guys in every group and a decent amount of freshman browse here. We know this because every once in a while some dork will send a groupme screenshot of something. And also because if you're reading this, you took the time to visit as well.
The purpose of this post is to provide an accurate rank of fraternities based on campus impact. You can equate these rankings to "bottom" "middle" and "top tier", but that method has really been outdated for a while. Especially on a campus as unique as Baylor where a fraternity that is considered middle-tier due to their careless attitude might be more in line with a top tier fraternity elsewhere.
High Positive Impact:
KOT
-Largest house
-Dominant in sing and float
-Tons of service
-Elitist attitude
-Longstanding Baylor tradition
-Involvement in student government and campus leadership
-Favorable opinion by majority of girls
-Seen as unfriendly by non-Greek/people who aren't connected
-Decent at intramurals
ATO
-"smaller" large house (due to chapter membership crisis)
-Around a decade of being a top house carries them
-Consistently makes pigskin
-Decent party/social aspect
-Service-minded
-involvement in student government and campus leadership
-leaders in the IFC
-generally favorable opinion by most sororities
-made fun of as the sporty/preppy guys by detractors
-previously on the rocks due to suspension
-typically takes good PCs, with the exception of this last 24 man pc
-hosts successful "Bed Races" event every year; raises decent amount
-Wins intramurals consistently
Phi Chi:
-2nd largest house
-Christian fraternity
-not considered "Greek" by hardline fraternity guys (Delt/Phi Delt/KA/Pi Kapp)
-Extremely service oriented
-Huge involvement on campus
-Decent at intramurals
-student government and other leadership
-Focused on Sing; wins consistently
-good relations with ChiO, Tri Delt, AXO, Pi Phi
-no "official" parties w/alcohol
-less emphasis on the social aspect
-goofy/cool camp counselor type
Sigma Chi:
-Largest (apparently) IFC house
-newer (approx. 3 years on campus), but had a history at Baylor before
-some focus on service
-focus on philanthropy events like Derby Days
-recent success in float; takes Sing seriously, hasn't made Pigskin
-takes large PCs of decent quality
-heavily involved on campus
-student government and IFC involvement also
-less focused on parties (have had very few in recent semesters)
-mostly have low-key events/date parties
-alright in intramurals
-Good relations w/ most sororities (Theta, Kappa, Tri-Delt, AXO, Zeta, ChiO)
Positive Impact:
Kappa Sig:
-Larger house (similar to ATO)
-highly focused on social aspect
-recently suspended for dubious reasons
-Traditionally successful in float and Sing
-some campus involvement
-less involvement in campus leadership (StuGov, IFC, StuFu, club sports)
-doesn't take things very seriously
-big on parties
-more of an out of state fraternity vibe (in a good way)
-Favored by Kappa/Pi Phi; fewer interactions w/other groups

Frats that dominate in activities like Sing and Float typically are composed of mostly lightweight majors. They have time to give hours and hours to these types of activities. Most Baylor students are there to get an education and with that requires a serious amount of study time. Many in Frats even have jobs. Frats shouldn’t be judged on their ability to win Sing and Float. Give them credit for participating. Get your priorities straight.

SLIGHT NEGATIVE IMPACT:
Delta Tau Delta:
-Mid size chapter
-smaller, less selective PCs
-almost entirely focused on social
-big time on parties (but not great at them)
-little to no service or philanthropy
-no campus leadership
-think “animal house” type guys
-bad relationship with the university
-some really cool guys, some real mouth breathers
-Sing is a joke for them, but SAE did it better
-tries at float
-good relations with AXO, Zeta, Theta
-overall the “idgaf” House

Obvious self ranking going on here.
Facts: All The groups party, drink, date girls (ok well not everyone), members are smart, ambitious, participate in sports, Sing, Float, Baylor Life, and want to contribute.
Some are filled with geeks and nerds who were not popular in high school but have a talent to Sing and Dance and want to finally get noticed. They are the wannabes. Wannabe first in everything.
Some are jocks and leaders who were very popular in high school who are content to be more laid back and low key as they have nothing to prove. That is their cool style.
There is a group for everyone.

You either are obviously not a student anymore or don’t have a clue how things work. Phi Chi literally partnered with Pi Phi for sing, something I’ve never seen an IFC fraternity convince them to do. Also, like it or not KOT definitely hangs with the rest of em in terms of being a fraternity. Excluding these guys because they’re local is just a cheap move. Everyone else at Baylor knows these guys are big dogs on campus in terms of girls, pcs, intramural, etc. Make fun of them all you want, but they have as much impact as a top tier IFC fraternity.
Also the unique nature of Baylor Greek life results in a system where locals not only succeed, but thrive.
