Recruitment isn't really that difficult. You sign up, go to the events, don't act like a loser, put all your invites down on your preference card, and get a bid.
It's only difficult if you say "I'm only going to accept a bid from Alpha Alpha Alpha." Then you've screwed yourself over when they cut you.

It's really NOT that easy. Women who maximize their options are indeed cut before preference round. For a variety of reasons.
We know if you attend preference and you rank all 2 or 3 prefs you attended, you will get a bid. If you don't maximize your options, you run the risk of being released.
