Tacky IG Posts of PCs
by: Just wondering....Anyone else think it’s tacky for the sororities to be posting their new member IG posts featuring half of the new members in bikinis?

I love LOL’s comment except the dig at Emory... although I know it’s true haha I try to stay positive and have school spirit despite being embarrassed to go here. It was definitely like at the bottom of my list when applying to schools, but I didn’t get into my reaches.

It would be much more meaningful for them to post little blurbs about each new member and celebrate their accomplishments from high school/the fall semester. Lift the members up for their intelligence, community service work, and leadership, rather than their looks. Those are the attributes that will get them far in life years after graduation.

Yeah I see like why the original post may be getting downvoted (I agree with it, but the wording was kinda off), but this comment is super accurate.
I am a member of a 'top sorority' but really do feel like the PC posts bragging about how hot the new classes are makes us seem inauthentic and invalidates our sisterhood. Unfortunately I'm not an upperclassmen yet so can't really make any changes, but plan on doing exactly what this comment proposed once I hopefully am on exec in the future!!

dude the sororitys had like 5 seconds to make those videos, and girls worked really hard on them. chill.

You guys do realize that undergrad students run these srat accounts and give their free time in exchange to support their organization and can only do so much? I guarantee every srat is working on a post/video something to showcase their NM in a more in depth way but 1. That takes time. It’s literally been a week you can’t expect everyone in the srat to know everything about the NMs when everyone can’t even be together rn 2. The srats used photos that NMs themselves had ALREADY posted and were obviously were well liked by them and made them feel confident. That’s literally what joining a sorority is supposed to make them feel like. Supported and confident

Bikinis were invented in 1946, so I’m confused about how someone from the 1500s would know about their existence? I know we go to a super nerdy school but surely an MIT student would invent a time travel machine before an Emory student, because we’re still 2nd tier AT BEST (more like 3rd tier).
