time commitment?
by: eagleCan someone please explain the time commitment of a sorority? I would really like to rush in the fall, but I'm a little nervous about how much time is required on weekends and stuff. Thank you :)

Time commitment is a part of any organization you join. The best advice I have is to ask women about their chapters time commitment when you meet them. Each chapter has its own participation requirement. The best way to truly understand the time commitment is to ask chapter members. Keep in mind most greek women are college women with jobs and other responsibilities, so try not to worry too much about time. I hope you sign up for recruitment and encourage other too as well. For more info you can always email the VP of Membership, her contact info is on the emich greek life page.

Hi there! The time commitment for each sorority will vary, so your best bet would be to go to formal recruitment and make it a point to ask each chapter how much time their sorority takes out of their schedules. No matter what sorority you join, you will always have one weekly chapter meeting, as well as a certain number of community service hours that will be required, and Greek-life wide required events such as helping incoming freshman move into their dorms, Greek week, recruitment, etc. I won't lie to you it is a pretty large time commitment but it's so worth it! And if time is something you are seriously concerned about I'm sure you can find your home at a sorority that will work with you. Good luck and see you at recruitment!
