you don't have to be an actual frat to pretend to be a freshman on greek rank either

Even if Dsig is not a recognized frat, they still carry the reputation of being a top house at Duke for the past 7-8 years. They throw the best parties at Duke (Candyland, Nikki Beach, and Pie n Hard), and still mix with all of the relevant sororities. This holds much more meaning than being part of the IFC does.
Currently, the only frats left that still have any clout are Snu, KA, and maybe ADPhi (they will die out completely next year after their seniors leave). All other frats like Pike or ATO are just filled with weird "nice" guys, as girls from key three sororities will refer to them. If you are actually a freshman and are not considering joining Dsig solely because they are off campus, then reconsider. The other options aren't too great either, and who knows how long it will be before another top house gets kicked off again...

Everyone at Duke is weird, just because you happen to be a jap from Long Island/Westchester or rich doesn’t make you cool outside of made up Duke social constructs

Here's the real reason why having a national charter is important: liability. If your organization does not have a national charter, you will be personally liable if anyone gets hurt at one of your events. If someone's drink gets spiked, you may have to pay for the lawsuit out of your own pocket and(or) do jail time. No one will protect you. And if you want to take that risk with the dumb schmucks that make up DSig's class last year, you probably shouldn't be going to Duke anyway

dsigs sophomore pledge class is not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. they only stand behind snu and ka’s class, but are much better than adphi or pike. adphi literally has 12 guys both their sophomore and junior pc, and 2 of them are not complete stoners that actually go out. and pike, well, is just pike lol.

There are a lot richer frats such as Snu and Adphi. They’re top because they are usually good with sorority relations

Well that’d make you an idiot lmao. Who cares if they get to sit in on the IFC meeting. They’re still some cool guys who have good parties and good sorority relations. They act like a frat but they save a lot of money by not being nationally affiliated
