sorority rushing
by: falalallaI am so nervous about sorority rush. how important is being in the "Right friend group"? what if you are attractive and wealthy but not in the top top friend groups? can I still get into a key 3? what do they even look for during rush?

don't worry!! walking into a room of older girls is definitely intimidating, but it gets a lot easier after the first round. the key 3 already have a list of that they're "looking out for", and you will basically know if you're on that list (girls follow you on instagram, the rush chairs come and talk to you during the round, you get some special treatment). BUT some of them reserve spots in the pledge class for girls that weren't on their radars before. if you're cool and fun during rush, you will probably be able to impress them and they will want you, regardless of whether you were in a "well known" friend group before rush. you will be fine and will probably make it into the key 3 if you're just cool and relax and be yourself.
they look for different things, but generally:
pi phi- you're international, a stoner, from new york, or very chill/laidback/cool
kappa- you're fun, pretty, or nice, where you're from doesn't really matter
tridelt- you're rich, from new york, or hot
aphi- you're a "sweet girl", nice, where you're from doesn't really matter,

literally no, this is why so many girls are devastated every year. also I would definitely not say that above all key 3 is relaxed and cool.
oh and "be yourself" is the worst rush advice ever

Literally wealth, connections and looks are all that matter, this is probably the least genuine process you could imagine
