transfer or independent?
by: BluntDo you think it would be better to transfer or to go independent? I came to Duke for the very active social scene with parties and pregames, but I don't think it's possible for me to do too much of that as an independent male. When I was rushing an slg/frat through Round 3, I was so sure I was going to get in that I dropped the other things I was rushing, just to find out I got cut at the last moment. I've been offered snap bids from questionable groups but I would honestly be in nothing than be in those frats. At this point, with what I want to do, is it better to be independent or try to get out? Be honest.

Unless you are transferring to like Harvard then stay. Social scene at a school shouldn’t be the only thing you come for. Duke is one of the best schools in the world. Transferring because you didn’t get a fraternity bid is probably the lamest thing I’ve ever heard.

Don’t compromise your future for something as lame as the Greek system.... all the hype dissolved by sophomore year. Continue to go to Shooters and Devines and find a group of independents to pregame with.... plenty of people are in your shoes. Stay close to ur girl friends in sororitys and they’ll invite u places. Also look into rushing again next year if it means that much to you. By the way if you transfer you’ll be at the same spot at a new school....

You're dumb....many people take snaps from "questionable groups" and it's the best decision they've ever made. Get over yourself. You got denied for a reason, and that's ok. Just move on.
