girls rush sucked

So many flukes happened with girls Rush this year. I mean over TWO HUNDRED amazing individuals dropped or just didn’t receive a bid because of the crazy computer system. I wish duke as a whole were more kind to independent students who a lot of the time feel left out. Girls, if you got into a sorority, yay! Don’t forget your friends. Boys, just because your lady friend isn’t in a sorority, doesn’t mean you have to ghost them

Why not make the pledge classes bigger? If there are people who still want to be in a house why not have a larger informal rush process?

Panhellenic wanted pc smaller ..... Also if someone ghosts their girlfriend because she is not in a sorority or the " right " sorority the girl should consider herself lucky to rid herself of him ...

Omg. 200 girls did not drop out. There were ~350 to start with and PCs are all around 26-27. Therefore around 90 girls dropped rush. Yes that is a lot but can we pleaS stop exaggerating.

First of all...

1. at the beginning of recruitment there were 396 people total

2. quota was confirmed to be 25, which means that there were only about 250 people who stayed

3. you do the math

It's not a "crazy computer system". Highly competitive chapters (cough cough Kappa) make HUGE cuts between round 1&2 and 2&3 every year. Also for some reason this year "suiciding" aka not maximizing options after pref round was really popular (in the hopes that chapters like DG/Theta/Aphi would be doing informal/snap bids) and bc of that almost 40 girls didnt get bids which was a risk they knew they were taking. This year was a little funky as certain chapters were more competitive/popular than usual so there definitely were unexpected cuts but lets please stop saying it was all a computer "glitch" or whatever. As for informal rush, please remember that only a few chapters participate and even then they only take 2-5(max!) girls. Finally, being independent can be hard right when so many are excited about greek life but it in no way means your social life is over and can even lead to having a larger, more diverse group of friends in the future!

whether is was 90 or 200 girls that dropped, thats still SO MANY. Why are PC sizes only 25?? That's crazy small.

look above, so many girls suicided, going into pref PCs should have been around 30, also some chapters still have like 27/28 girls
