.... um
by: freshman girlI know this has already been talking about I think... but why is greek like SO HEAVILY white. It's actually kind of crazy for a school that promotes diversity! why is this!! Honest answers only. Because i'm not white, will this ruin the changes of me getting to a sorority? what about my non-white males friends?

It's absolutely a huge issue that most of the sororities care a lot about improving and are actively looking to grow their diversity.
I think a big part of the problem is proportionally a lot of minorities don't choose to rush panhellenic recruitment -- as there is some self-selection into NPHC/SLGs/etc.
A lot of sorority girls are vocally politically active however and genuinely care about changing this. If you are interested in joining a sorority -- you should certainly rush.
Comments on this forum saying you need to be "white, skinny and rich" to join a sorority are sincerely misguided -- and honestly revolting.
Your race will unquestionably not hurt you, but may increase your visibility and uniqueness (in a positive way) during rush. Sororities could really benefit from more perspectives.

Tridelt and Kappa are extremely not diverse. However, Pi Phi and Aphi are very diverse if you look at their most recent pledge classes.
It's horrible that some of the sororities have so little diversity, but I do think that some frats and sororities at Duke are unbiased in their rush process.

Aphi didn’t remove the girl who bragged about white privilege and piphi calls themselves diverse because of white Hispanic girls. Kappa is better for non white women
