SO SO SO HAPPY Panhellenic is making rules to empower women. If you haven't heard fraternity men are no longer allowed to "court" sorties with materialistic items. Goodbye flowers, cookie cakes, candy, and say hello to real conversations!!!!!!

This is what people are getting offended over now?

I hope the OP is sarcasm. First PanHel took away Little Sisters. the they forbid girls from being in fraternity houses during rush. Then they told the girls not to court fraternities. WHO do you think wants to have a 'conversation'?
Next project will be to ditch GreekRank before next fall rush so PNMs don't hear about who's good and who's not.

Lemme just reply to one of those comments

The tiers are not the same
When u look back to 2010-2012 Greek rank and any super senior thy will tell u that agd wasn't bottom and AXO was almost bottom and Adpi was top and that's not true now it's all changed

In the first place, don't ever depend on Greek Rank for any objective or even reasonable assessment.
In the second place, there are five sororities that float around the top. Some years one will be at the very top, and some years they will drop to #5 but there are only 5 in that tier.
And when you say AGD wasn't bottom you're fooling yourself. They've added Alpha Phi and AOPi and maybe that allowed AGD to rise. But the bottom 5 are the same all the time.
The bottom tier sororities don't have to be bottom. If they would fight the PanHell rush rules and be aggressive they would do better.
I have no opinion about AXO but I will admit I've heard they have gotten a lot better.

I am not being judgmental here. Women like their system and the men like theirs. No one is pushing for change. But you asked.
Fraternity rush is wide open. Fraternities can rise or fall depending on how ambitious they are and how hard they work to recruit. Fraternities can be as large or as small as they want.
In contrast, sororities are prohibited from pledging more than a certain number determined by PanHellenic. Sororities cannot be larger than a certain number determined by PanHellenic. Fall recruitment is very structured: no sorority can pledge any woman except through formal rush. Every PNM is required to go through every sorority house so no one can hide rushees, or rush over the summer, or talk to PNMs in advance.
That is why the top five never drop and the bottom five never get better relative to the whole sorority system. To be blunt, if you were car shopping and every car on every lot costs the same, why would you not choose a Mercedes over a Kia?

It seems no matter where you go, how old you get, or who you’re around, life is just one big competition. That’s just the world we live in. We’re constantly comparing ourselves to others and others to ourselves. We make judgments based off of how we perceive one person or group in comparison to another. It’s a never-ending cycle of who is better than whom.

Most of this would stop if posters had to use their real names.

So all the Panhell rules and restrictions are about empowering women?
Getting rid of little sisters, banning girls from fraternities during rush, rigid formal rush, punitive rush rules, and now telling fraternities they cannot court sororities?
And this "empowers" women how? Sounds like women, and their sororities would be a lot more empowered if they were allowed to compete with each other for PNMs and for the attention of fraternities.

By: "Empowerment"? Really?

First and foremost. Panhellenic cannot make ANY rule that governs IFC. If a fraternity wants to come sing to you and bring you food, they still can. Panhellenic cannot get them in trouble.

Second, it's not a Panhellenic wide ammendmant. The ONLY sororities who have adopted this is Zeta, Alpha Phi, and AGD. They're the only ones who have publically stated there will be no courting.

This isn't empowering women, this is just trying to be politically correct. There is nothing wrong with men showing how much they appreciate you.

This would only be empowering women if the fraternities chose the sororities solely on looks. But wait, SORORITIES are the ones who ACCEPT or REJECT a fraternity for homecoming. If they don't like the fraternity, they don't have to accept it.
