recs: yes or no

When rushing in the fall, do you recommend getting a letter of recommendation? Or can they harm you more than help you?

Some sororities are required by Nationals to have a reference for everyone they bid. If they need to cut people - guess who is an easy cut? References will only help you.

Look at the other recent rec discussion to answer your question. GET RECS!

Recs don't matter at all, sorry. They get you past the first round in some sororities and thats it. They cut you based on your gpa and looks the first round, not some stupid rec from a random person. Only bother with recs of people that know you well.

Welll....if they get you past the first round, this means one more chance to make meaningful connections and meet more women in a chapter. It could be a chance to keep getting invited back for more rounds.

At most you'll get to the second round, that's it. Now you could be right. Getting to the next round can mean getting another chance to show them your personality but if your gpa is not to the sororities standard, then you're dropped with no questions asked. Plus, some sororities do the courtesy ask back, but the entire time they know their just going to cut you after. Only get them to houses that would be a match for you. Getting all 17 is excessive.

Do they have to be from alumni or can they be from active members?

Active members who go to the fsu cannot write recs for girls going through their recruitment and majority of the time, only alum recs are accepted
