formal rush for fraternities
by: toddytoddyI want IFC to consider formal rush for fraternities. Maybe not as elaborate as the sororities but every sorority is guaranteed a pledge class in good numbers and every rushee is forced to visit every house. There are controls that make it fair to everyone. We should do this.

Here's how it would work. No one can pledge in the summer like they do now. Everyone has to register for rush and pay the IFC a fee, maybe $10. You can't pledge any fraternity unless you register for rush in advance and pay the fee to cover IFC expenses. Formal rush takes three days, bids are coordinated through IFC and everyone gets a pledge class.

It should be done similar to sororities. Levels the playing field and new members can pick based on more than a 10 minute conversation.

USF's greek life is a pathetic joke. Its amazing how a bunch geeds in bottom tier frats want to force guys to come into their house/tent. NEWS FLASH: They still won't accept your bid. The only difference is that they will have wasted a couple hours in your house. If you want a good rush class get off your ass and recruit. We aren't sorority girls. When you axe a guy, you look him in the eye and tell him he's not the right fit. This saves time, and allows for guys to move onto a house that they belong in.

That's exactly the point! No house should control the rush process
It would force all houses to do a better job recruiting

OK that's not what I meant. I didn't mean the Pikes and Delts (not just them) should control THE process, I just meant that those types of chapters would never let anyone else control THEIR process. They're going to rush and pledge in the summer and rush year around. The big chapters don't care what everyone else does or how they do it. Just don't try to restrict them. I don't even know why I'm arguing this. I don't care.

That would waste everyone's time. I'm sorry, but 95% of the guys that walk into top tier frats get kicked out in the first 5 min. You know right away just by looking at a guy if he even has a chance of getting a bid. This would help the crappier frats get a rush class, but if they can't attract guys on their own then they shouldn't be here.
