what do other sororities do regarding legacies?
by: CuriousMy sorority's nationals is nuts and we absolutely have to take all of the legacies that put us, which means we always end up with a few girls that we really do not want but just can't get rid of. However, I know that a lot of other chapters are nationally supposed to take all of their legacies, but I feel like they don't ? Can anyone give me some insight on the policies for other chapters or how you go about it ?

Personally I think your nationals has the right idea. Unless there's a really good reason to not take a legacy I think all direct legacies should be accepted. Not as in they had an aunt in the same sorority but different chapter, but if they had a sister or mother in this chapter. It means so much more to them than it does to have to take a couple of girls you wouldn't normally take. To be rejected from a legacy when your whole family is expecting you to join it would be extra hit to the confidence. There's just no sense in it. Plus it's an insult to your sister who's child or sister it is.
But for my sorority there is no requirement to accept a legacy, although there are certain stipulations that give them an advantage.

Totally agree with what you're saying but our nationals requires us to take any direct legacy (including sister, mother, or grandmother) from any chapter. Which to me is a little much and is forcing us to take away bids from other girls and making us give them to girls we do not truly see in our sisterhood. Sometimes it works out and we end up taking great girls that are legacies, but for the ones we are finding ourselves forced to take i personally think it is not benefitting the chapter or the PNM.
