thoughts before rush

Thought for sure I would love Phi Mu since all of my friends from high school went PhiMu. Did so much research on the chapter nationally and in specific to FSU. At rush last year I just didn't see myself fitting in with them. I didn't really have anything against them, but it just wasn't for me. Ended up in DG and couldn't be happier!

never even considered KD because I thought I wouldn't fit in but I ended up loving them all week and even preffed them

I came into recruitment last year mostly interested in AXO, PiPhi, and ZTA. I ended up pledging a completely different house and have been really happy. Please come in willing to look at all the sororities...everyone has some heartbreak during rush but I really believe you end up where you're meant to be. Good luck!

I wanted zeta, KD, & chi o & ended up in a completely different house & I couldn't love it any more than I do!
The reason why we say keep an open mind is that you don't really know where you'll fit in until you visit the different chapters.
I thought for sure I would fit into zeta KD and chi o but I put chi o and Zeta as my lowest options when I had to narrow down the chapters.. Not because I didn't like them but I just didn't fit in.
Also a lot (a LOT) of girls don't end up with those houses that they go into rush wanting back so we're just trying to prevent you (the PNMs) from being heartbroken if you don't get invited back when you thought for sure you would get it.
Some times you even leave the houses saying you had the best conversation and love it and they choose to not invite you back, it's really unpredictable but that's the beauty of "keep an open mind" and "trust the system" it all works out in the end :)

I was 1000% sure I wanted to be in ADPi. much like the other girls commenting here where I was from a lot of my friends were ADPis at other schools and it seemed like a place I wanted to be, however even after the first round I knew it wasn't my home. They kept me on and I even preffed there but when it came down to it I knew they weren't where I was meant to be. So I would say trust your gut too!! And don't be afraid to put a lower tier first on your list if that's where you are the happiest! Just because you have a lot of friends that went something somewhere else doesn't mean you should too! All 17 chapters on our campus are full of beautiful loving women and any pnm would be lucky to be invited to join any of them!

Two years ago I went in wanting Theta or ADPi and I preffed at both but ended up actually going with Phi Mu and I'm very happy

I came in thinking I wouldn't want to be in a sorority that was considered "top" because of all the bad things people say about the "top tier" ones and how mean people claim they are
But going through rush you realize no one actually cares about tiers, it's just people on Greek rank who make it seem like it matters
Two out of the three houses I preffed at are considered top tier, and I ended up in one of those two
Despite what people say on here, we have an incredible sisterhood and everyone is very nice and supportive
Don't limit yourself before you even start the process, just go with your gut and pay attention to where you have the most meaningful conversations and where you feel most comfortable, because if I didn't pay attention to those feelings I wouldn't be in the house I'm in now, and I would've missed out on the best decision I've ever made

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences.. I'll admit, I already have three houses in my head that I feel like I want to be a part of ( DDD, AXO and ChiO) I keep telling myself, stop, don't do it, keep and open mind. It has helped reading that others ended up in totally different places than they originally hoped for... just going to trust the system and I'm sure I'll find my new home.

Contrary to the popular opinion, I came to FSU knowing which sorority I wanted. I ended up being there and couldn't be happier. This is a rare case though
