predicament

I'm not allowed to join X sorority because my parents have heard things about them throughout college and even now, which I think is stupid, but regardless I'm not allowed. What should I do about this, just drop them after first round?

And even if you try to drop them first round, you might still get them back because they might want you back. If you're really not allowed to join at all? just keep putting them as your last option

Then continue to let your parents dictate your life. That's on you. I hope you don't become a member of my house. I really don't.

You gotta grow up sometime, lil girl.

Actually, respecting my parents is mature, while posting anonymous rude comments on the internet is tremendously immature. I hope I don't become a member of your house either.

That's pathetic, OP. I have absolutely zero sympathy for weak-minded people who complain about how their parents won't let them do X or Y, then do nothing to try & remedy the situation. Your parents are believing BS rumors about a house that's probably amazing. You could be talking to your future Big when you go thru recruitment, &/or have an a m a z i n g connection w/ a young woman from a house, but uh oh! Mommy & Daddy won't pay for that house, bc they believe stupid rumors.

Ever think of actually talking to your parents, & explaining that chances are, the rumors aren't true? Or would you rather just sit back, nod, smile, & do everything Mommy & Daddy say?

I had a friend who was in your boat. Guess what? She sat her parents down, showed them all of the wonderful things that sorority did for their philanthropy. She explained about study hours, & how there's always going to be sisters in the house who would be more than willing to help her out. Her parents ~saw the light~, & agreed to help her w/ those dues... After admitting how they were wrong.

Grow a spine, sit your parents down, & talk to them. The fact that they believe "tent talk" is just... yeah, wow.

"That's pathetic"? Are you kidding me? Do you always speak to PNMs like this or just behind the anonmity of the internet? I've obviously thought of the option to dissuade them but evidently my parents are different from your friends parents. I disagree with their decision and I've done what I can, there is absolutely no need for you to be this rude to me
