When rushing a fraternity (top or upper tier) is it important to have connections to get a bid or can I get a bid if I'm random

Connections help, but the top fraternities at FSU are so large that you can just go through rush and if you are the right fit you'll get a bid. There are a lot of really good fraternities here.

Don't worry about the tiers too much. If you rush any fraternity other than the bottom you will be straight. Every frat throws ragers. Go into rush with an open mind and try to party with as many frats during the summer as you can. That way you won't end up in a frat with a bunch of D-bags that you hate.
