difficulty
by: CuriousHow difficult would you say it is to get into the houses here at FSU? I know at, say, Ole Miss/Bama/Texas/etc, you pretty much had to come out of the womb ready to rush, but I'm not sure how difficult it is here.

It's easier here. At Ole Miss almost all the fraternities are carbon copies of each other. If you don't 'look' like a Greek at Ole Miss you may not get into a good house. And by look I mean clothes, color and background.
FSU has a lot of really good fraternities but they're good in different ways. Someone who might be an outsider at Ole Miss can find himself in a really good fraternity at FSU. Also, at Ole Miss IFC rush is formal. At FSU it is wide open.

Obviously I'm a guy so I don't know as much about sororities. Sorority rush here like all the other big southern schools is very rigid and structured. All the sororities here have over 200 girls and they all have beautiful houses. If there is a criticism it's that juniors and even sophomores have a hard time getting bids to what are considered the elite sororities. But most of the sororities are so good that if those women keep an open mind it hardly matters.

FSU sorority Rush is very structured like every other large southern school. The difference is you don't need to prepare for rush over a year in advance at fsu like other schools. For example at schools like Alabama, if you don't know someone in the sororities it's very unlikely to get a bid. Here you could go into it not knowing anyone and you can still get a bid, which in my opinion is absolutely great! Also recommendation letters are a must at other schools, I don't think they matter much here, but don't quote me on that. Overall sorority rush week is very rigid and structured with a strict schedule, but you will definitely have an easier time getting bids here than other typical southern schools.
