d1 athletes and fraternities

Im a student at a different college, but just wanted to say how cool it is that the athletes at your school get the opportunity to join a fraternity. When did this become a tradition at FSU? Very interesting!

Glad you asked. Varsity athletes have joined fraternities at FSU since the beginning. Burt Reynolds was a Phi Delt. New university President John Thrasher was a Sig Ep here. Football, Baseball and Golf head coaches are Pikes. Track coach is an SAE (but not especially supportive). Phi Delt and Pike each had two guys taken in the NFL draft this spring. Athletes are all over the system at ATO, Theta Chi, Sig Ep, SAE, Phi Sig, I'm sure there are more.

Wow didn't know the roots of your system were that deep! That's awesome! You definitely don't see that here in the pacific northwest.

There's no reason for you o do without just because you're in another part of the country. May I ask where you go to school?
