How selective are fraternities when it comes to rushing? Are some more selective than others? How can you guarantee a bid?

The higher the tier you rush, the more likely it will be a bit more selective. This isn't always the case tho. And as for guaranteeing yourself a bid, basically just be able to hold a conversation, don't be a try hard and just be yourself man

I'm going to have to disagree with the user above stating that it is harder to get a bid the higher the tier you go. I'm also in a fraternity and rushed fall14 and had no knowledge of the tier system. I received 2 bids from fraternities that are "top tier" and didn't receive bids to 2 other fraternities I liked that were average/middle tier. I found my conversations just flowed easier with the men in the "top tier" ones than the other ones. In this case it was easier for me to get a bid from them. But it's not about where it's easy to get a bid from, it's where you like and are most comfortable/belong. So don't think of it as "how hard it is" because that means you're narrowing your search before rush even began. Enjoy house previews and narrow down your search from there and if you're able to hold a conversation with a stranger while talking about your attributes without sounding like you're bragging, you'll end up where you belong
