Florida State University (FSU) has taken decisive action against three fraternities following confirmed reports of hazing incidents occurring on the July 4th. Effective immediately, Pi Lambda Phi, Theta Chi, and Kappa Sigma have been placed under suspension pending further investigation and disciplinary proceedings.
FSU's commitment to the safety and well-being of its students is paramount. The university has a zero-tolerance policy regarding hazing, and any substantiated allegations are met with swift and stringent disciplinary measures. The decision to suspend these organizations underscores FSU's dedication to upholding a safe and respectful campus environment.
"We are deeply disappointed by the actions of these organizations, as hazing is contrary to the values of FSU and the principles of brotherhood and community that fraternities are meant to uphold," said an IFC spokesperson "The health and safety of our students are our top priorities, and we will continue to investigate these incidents thoroughly."
During the suspension period, Pi Lambda Phi, Theta Chi, and Kappa Sigma are prohibited from participating in any university activities, including recruitment, social events, and organizational meetings. FSU encourages any students who have information regarding hazing or other misconduct to come forward and assist with the investigation.
FSU remains committed to fostering a campus culture that prioritizes respect, inclusivity, and responsibility. Updates regarding the status of the suspensions and any subsequent actions will be provided as the investigation progresses.
