I have a boyfriend who goes to another school and I’m a freshman. I heard from a friend who is already in a sorority that sometimes that can be a bad thing because they don’t think you’ll have time to pledge. Are they going to ask me if I have a boyfriend or not?? I also was told you don’t talk about boys during rush but if they ask…

100% don’t bring him up during rush but no one will care about that, “pledging” is not an intense or time consuming process at all, they won’t bring it up during rush because panhellenic is extremely strict about their rules (like not talking about boys during recruitment) and houses can get in serious trouble for breaking the rules and no house will want to risk that

Don’t take him off your IG or anything. You dont want to hide him. We can’t talk about boys during recruitment. At. All.

I'm reading all this, and it sounds like you're not allowed to talk about men at all. I'm in a fraternity. Are you saying that during recruitment sorority members cannot talk about how they socialize with this or that prominent fraternity? I would think it is an advantage to talk about which fraternities you pair with. No? Why not?

Sororities are about sisterhood, and recruitment is about what we have to offer within our membership. Frats aren't relevant to that. I know it may be shocking to hear that boys aren't the center of our world, and that there are other things we are actually more focused on, with boys being more of an accessory kind of thing, like a great pair of earrings; cute and fun to have, you need them sometimes but they aren't exactly critical, and you can always pick up some new ones anywhere.

even if we could talk ab your bf, it really wouldn’t factor into anything, no sorority will care that you have a bf, don't stress it
