Will studying abroad first year help/hurt me in rush?

by:

I'm going to be a first year abroad student so I won't be on main campus this fall. Will it be weird to rush as a sophomore next year? I can't get involved in campus life while i'm abroad so will that hurt me?? Or will studying abroad help me because it sets me apart?

In my opinion, it’s a huge advantage. Waiting a year, maturing, meeting tons a new people, being exposed to amazing cultures and seeing the world is only going to enhance your college experience. You will come back look at sorority recruitment as a sophomore in a totally different light vs. being a freshman. Not to mention you will have great conversation starters during recruitment about your experiences.

It will not be weird at all and there are sorority actives who have also studied abroad that you would likely be paired with at houses. Also there is a separate quota for upperclassmen so you would not be competing with freshmen for spots.
