Dropped by many houses during sorority rush
by: anonHow do chapter sisters ACTUALLY pick pnm's during sorority recruitment? Because I got dropped by all but 4 after the first round of recruitment, and I was so confused because all of the conversations I had were great. Even the ones where I had amazing conversations dropped me. There were a couple where the conversations felt a little fake but that's expected since you're not going to click with every sorority you visit. But what I just don't get are the ones I had genuine conversations in and I could tell the feeling was mutual yet they still dropped me. I ended up in a sorority that was at the bottom of my list but I thought I'd give it a try and so far I haven't really clicked with any of the girls so I think I'm gonna drop.
#1by: You don’t get it
The process is secret but basically you are ranked along with all the other PNMs on a list each round. Each house has to drop a certain number each round with top tiers having to drop the most and so on.
It’s all about how you rank vs other PNMs. The girls that rushed you may have liked you but you just overall ranked lower than many others.
It’s essentially a competition among PNMs and being dropped may not mean that girls who rushed you disliked you

The above comments are right. Recruitment rules are the reason there’s so much emphasis on this site about tiers and ranking.
The top sororities are required by Panhellenic rules to drop huge numbers after the first round. Lower ranking sororities are not required to drop anyone and they generally don’t. The theory I guess is that if you know you’re not getting in a top tier house you’ll settle for another good one down the line.
What would happen if Panhellenic just allowed every sorority to recruit who they wanted in the spring? Everyone would have an equal chance.

#4by: Would this work?
Would this work? If most PNMs would choose the same 5 sororities then why not lift the membership size limitations on everyone EXCEPT those five? That would be fair and give the smaller sororities the chance to recruit more girls. If they could recruit as many as they want, they would be more competitive. No?

The process isn’t secret. Each sorority has an invite list after each round. The more popular sororities (believe it or not it’s a lot of mid tier) have to cut half or more of the PMNs from their list the very first round. It’s very impersonal so it’s mostly based on looks, some sororities gpa and if you have a lot of friends in that sorority from your hometown. Sad to say this but a lot of the list is already narrowed down over the summer before rush begins. Best advice is make a lot of friends with the sororities you would like to be a part of and rush again. Good luck.
