Houses to avoid if you’re not rich
by: …Rushing in the fall. Please be honest and tell me what fraternities to avoid if someone is not rich. I heard horror stories about some houses at this school. Serious answers please.

I'm not sure if you're worried that about this for reason 1. Being looked down on for not being rich or 2. Because you don't want to be expected to pay for things. however, I will answer both
1. Most people in frats are not wealthy so I highly doubt they would look down on you. I mean pike is known for having lots of rich kids and wealthy donors but I don't think they would treat you different.
2. When pledging, you will be spending lots of money on things but after you get initiated all you have to pay for is dues.
Hope this helps.

Masters message is wrong. Most of the people in Greek Life at FSU come from families with money. They may not be rich, but it costs a lot be in a sorority and I don’t know of any sorority women who work their way through school without help from parents. Fraternity fees are lower than sororities. A few, like Pike and KA and SAE do tend to draw from wealthy families but there are lots of guys in those fraternities who are not rich. Fraternity dues are not prohibitive and a lot of Pikes, SAEs and KAs work. If you are invited to join and you see value in your fraternity, ANY of them will work out a financial plan to fit your situation. Remember, they want you and that’s why they offer you a bid.
