Don't pin this on just the Pikes. All the fraternities don't mind promoting their favorite sororities. When the freshman girls are out with their friends in the clubs they'll start talking to guys. "Are you going to go through recruitment?"
"Yes, what sororities do you like?"

Fraternity guys will tell the freshmen girls which sororities they like because they ask. When freshmen girls ask sorority girls for their opinion they are always told all the sororities are the same, just go through formal recruitment and don't make up your mind in advance. That's not bad advice.
I think freshman girls just don't want to be stuck in a sorority that has a bad reputation even though a lot of times a sorority with a "bad" reputation lives in a beautiful home with a big chapter of interesting women.

None of this is dirty rushing. Dirty rushing is holding events with pnm's on the DL before recruitment, bid promising, breaking no-contact rules, or hot-boxing pnm's. It's not dirty rushing for anyone outside sororities to promote XYZ house. It's stupid to not make up your own mind though.
