kd legacy recommendation?
by: Legacy?Idk if im technically considered a legacy, but my aunt was a KD at Florida state back in the 70s, and she said if she writes me a recommendation, then KD will have to give me a bid. I’m not sure if that’s still true to this day. But if she writes me a recommendation, will that help my chances of getting into KD? Should she submit the recommendation through the kappa delta website or to the house directly?

From what I understand what happens with other sororities, if your AUNT our cousin or any other family member that is not your mom or grandmother was in a sorority and writes you a letter of rec, you are not promised a bid. You would be considered an "indirect legacy". The most you will benefit from that letter of recommendation is getting called back at least once. They have to call you back because they are required to since you're an indirect legacy but after that, they can drop you whenever they feel like it. (Source: I had a letter of rec to a sorority here from my aunt and thats what they told her)

Different sororities have different legacy statuses, so it is best if your aunt checks to confirm what KD’s is. That being said, MOST sororities only require that a PNM be invited back to the first invitational round. After that it is how well a PNM meshes with the chapter. If a legacy PNM makes it to prefs, depending on that particular sorority, the PNM will be on the first bid list, or at the top of the 2nd bid list.

and I also forgot to add for those of you who actually have direct legacies, if your mother or grandmother was in a sorority, let's say KD, then they are required to give you a bid to that sorority. Its up to you to accept it or not
