The one and only bid you will get is done through a computer algorithm that does the bid matching. If you attend two prefs and rank each house you will a get a bid to one of them. If you are invited to only one pref and you attend then you will get a bid to that house. Here's how the matching goes if you attend two prefs: Your two houses rank each PNM, and you rank your two houses. The algorithm will start at the top of the houses' bid lists to match their first choices with PNM's who have also put them first. If your first choice house has you high enough on their bid list to match with you before they reach Quota, then you will get a bid from that house. But, if your first choice reaches Quota before you are matched with them, then the algorithm will try to match you with your second choice house. If you are high enough on their bid list to match before they reach Quota then you will get a bid from that house. If you are not high enough on their bid to match with them either, then at that point you would get a bid as a Quota Addition and could be matched to either house. No one knows who is a Quota Addition, not even the actives in the house; it's just a regular bid and you would not be at a pref if the house didn't want you as a sister so don't worry about that. The houses do not know how you rank them either. Quota Addition is a very good reason not to 'suicide' or SIP (Single Intentional Preference) meaning only ranking one of the two houses where you pref. DO NOT DO THIS! RANK BOTH HOUSES because you aren't eligible to be a Quota Addition if you don't and the likelihood of not getting a bid is higher. Hope this helps.

The rumor that “suiciding” or just ranking one house on your pref list lowers your chance of getting a bid from the one house is FALSE!!! If you have 2 houses and will only accept a bid from your top house, only put that 1. Only putting one house does not lower your chance of getting a bid from that house. The above statement is completely false.
Don’t disappoint yourself by putting 2 houses if you can’t see yourself in one of them!

Don't immediately assume you will not fit into one of your pref houses. Just because you get a bid does not mean you have to initiate. Give it a shot for at least a while, many many girls (myself included) end up happy once you meet your pledge class and get to know more people even if they weren't sure on bid day.

And don't assume if you SIP and don't get a bid that rerushing will get you a "better" result next year. It may, but it's not certain.
