what makes a frat top
by: lmkLet's take two different frats. Theta Chi and Chi Phi. Besides looks and the house, what makes chi phi a lower "tier" than theta chi? Same thing with a bunch of other frats. Besides looks and house, what makes one high and one low?

Actually, having an impressive house is nice, but looks is far more important. Make that consistent looks, and which sororities you associate with. Chi Phi and Theta Chi are about the same. Both are good fraternities and both have nice guys. Theta Chi is a little too 'diverse' to be top tier, and Chi Phi is just too low profile. No one knows they're there.
Pike, Phi Delt, Delt, Phi Tau and actually KA are the top tier. There's a lot of difference in housing there, but the guys are all good looking and socialize with good sororities.

Honestly what drives the fraternal tier system completely is their house chef. Top tier houses have good chefs that make good food.
Quick rushing tip: get an idea of a house's tier without offending the brothers by asking them about their in house chef. If they say they don't have a chef in house they are politely telling you that you don't fit in the chapter

Despite a lack of diversity, KA is not top tier. Nice try...
