i give up

by:

How did I go from 13 houses after 2nd round with 7-8 top houses, only to get the 4 houses I kept ranking the lowest as my only houses? Why do they make you keep going back to the houses you rank lowest?

Don't give up!!! Contrary to the junk on this site, every single house at FSU is solid. What is considered "lower" tier would be AT LEAST a solid mid/upper-mid at most schools. Look for sisterhood in your choices!!! Don't give up!

What do you mean top houses? Are you basing your recruitment on Greekrank rankings?

Those houses that you keep ranking low are the houses that want you. So you can make the most of it, or you can decide that you're "too good" for them and drop. If you want to be Greek, now is your best chance.

no it is not. "make the best out of it" means compromise your own judgment. many girls rush soph year and get the houses they want. Don't let the gotta settle girls talk you into a bad match, Why.

Girl..."They" aren't making you going back to the ones you ranked lowest, as someone else said, those are the houses that wanted YOU. I know it's called "mutual sleection" but it really isn't. The sororities choose all the way up to pref, then PNMs make a decision after Pref. I hope you give those "lower" houses a chance because otherwise you will be missing out on your chance to go greek!

Oh Dear you message makes zero sense. Yes they ARE making a PNM go back again and again to a house she ranks lowest or she gets bounced from rush, period, end of story. If a house selects you, you have to go back. Never mind letting a PNM make up their own mind on best fit. My advice is to drop, and see if you want to do it next year. Trust yourself. Also why do the boys get buses for rush (and they pay nothing) when the girls who pay $150-$200 each, have to run in the hot sun? Where does all that money go? Two days at Seminole dining (which nost of the paid for already) isn't where.

bump ^^ sammie so so true. Funny cause i'm not judgmental like some think. I know what vibe and girls I connect with and which ones I do not. They shouldn't make you go back when you have gone 3 times and its not a fit. I dropped and I'm sad but I'd rather not commit to a house I clearly don't vibe with. Has nothing to do with reputation for me. my lowest might have been someone's highest.

Hey Sammie - Recruitment isn't changing. It's never going to be more like Fraternity Rush.

I want to know the answer to Sammie's point: "wish i were a guy. Free buses, just go to houses you want to visit and get to talk to more than 1 person per house before you get judged" Seems to me like if there were no quotas and no rigid rules the 'lowest' houses would have a lot better chance of moving up if they were aggressive and competitive.

Without RFM, house sizes would change dramatically. The "best" would get bigger and the "lower tier" would get smaller. Many women would only visit ZTA, DG, KD, and DDD and when they didn't get a bid, they wouldn't consider tiers that were "beneath them."

RFM helps houses achieve parity. RFM helps more PNMs get matched. It's not going anywhere.

To the OP- if those top tiers that you thought you should be going back to had agreed with your perception of yourself, those 4 houses you were so indignant about receiving invitations from would have dropped off your list, because the chapters you listed as #1 would have wanted to see you back. They decided that you were not a good fit for them, which opened up slots on your list for the 4 undesirables. One of the RFM goals is for PNMs to have as full a schedule as possible.

you are not very bright are you? I think if you read the OP talked about fit, not what campus thinks is top. Her top. face it, panhel recruiting is more based on spreading girls out than facilitating best fit. Fraternity recruitment ensures more ppl interact with each rushee. it takes multiple conversations with multiple guys to get to an interview which has 6-8 people in it. With sororities, you can be amazing and get unlucky to have 1 plastic girl who sucks at conversation and based on that 1 human's opinion, you're out. FSU panhel is poorly run compared to most colleges with major Rush. They waste more money, and girls are chosen based on less interaction than any sorority rush I've ever heard of.

Hey now, there's no need to get mean. I don't know what the OP meant, all I can say is sorority recruitment is never going to be like fraternity recruitment. There are plenty of things with sorority recruitment that I don't enjoy, but because of the sheer numbers and reputations involved, it won't work that way. Sorry. :S
