how do sororities get on probation/suspended?

Reading some posts here talk about like TriDelt or DG getting on social probation. How does this even happen and does that mean they aren't able to rush girls in the fall?

Neither DG or Tridelt is suspended or on probation and they are both recruiting in the fall
