transgender inclusive policies

Several national sororities and fraternities have adopted transgender inclusive policies within the last year. The fraternities are Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Phi Epsilon. and Delta Upsilon. The sororities that have changed their by laws are Kappa Kappa Gamma, Alpha Chi Omega, and Delta Gamma. This does NOT mean they are transgender fraternities and sororities. This is the direction many sororities and fraternities will be taking in the future.

If you take into membership men who are not really men and women who are not quite women, then you precisely ARE a transgender organization.

I think only time will tell. The decision on who a fraternity or sorority will take is ultimately up to each chapter. The transgender inclusion policies have been in place in some sororities and fraternities for a year. I don't think that Delt has taken any transgender pledges.

At their 2015 Executive Council meeting NPC sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma released their position statement supporting the inclusion of transgender students. I hope more NPC groups find a way to support/include this population of students.
