chapters "hiding" sisters
by: ....I love greek life but I think the absolute worst thing about it is recruitment. Not only for the PNMs but for the sisters as well it is a time where 80% of the women involved question themselves. I just wanted to put this out there that a majority of sororities only put a select group to rush girls to upkeep an image. Meanwhile, the rest of the chapter that doesn't obtain some type of quality that this select group has is forced to sit in a room upstairs all day while other sisters are told to not even come to recruitment. This divides chapters and friendships. Spring PNMS and fall PNMS please keep in mind this if you want a true sisterhood. Would you really want to join a chapter that hides half of their sisters ? Image is not everything. I made this mistake when rushing and I regret it now. I don't want someone who feels this way to be in a chapter that puts image above all, even sisterhood.

I was rush chairman of my fraternity (just graduated). The goobers WANT to bring in more like themselves. They have goober friends and they get pissed when you tell them no. The they threaten the blackball guys better than them. its better to have a smaller chapter and have zero goobers.

I don't think sororities are "hiding sisters." Some chapter houses just do not have the capacity to have all their members in the facility at the same time with all of the PNMs. In some instances fire codes would be broken and chapters could get in trouble. Every single sister has some type of job during recruitment, either rushing or doing all the behind the scenes things that need to be done. It is always an all-chapter effort. And of course there are always some sisters that do NOT want to rush because they are not as comfortable doing this, so they opt out. And I don't thing that sororities are putting image first or above all, they are involving the chapter women that are most comfortable with the process. What is wrong with that?

The thing is though sorority rush is different. One girl who is involved in so much on campus and is an amazing human inside and out can be not allowed to rush girls while another sister who is not involved in anything and doesn't have the best grades and barely contributes to the chapter is put on the floor solely based on looks. this is what bothers me. i have always been involved in my chapter and have had pretty good self confidence and felt i was fairly goodlooking yet i don't rush many girls at all. watching other sisters just basically put into perspective that my chapter does not value me. I am below these girls to the chapters eyes. this isn't sisterhood.
