spring rush 2017
by: CuriouspnmHi, I'm just curious if anyone got a spring bid to a sorority without knowing someone in the chapter or having a letter of reccomendation. I'm really interested in being in a sisterhood but don't know too many girls in chapters.

I did so it's possible but it's not easy either. There are limited spots when it comes to spring rush and it's usually a little less than half of sororities are even taking. And even out of the small amount of sororities that are taking, some may only be taking around 3-5 girls. Honestly the best advice I can give you is do your best to talk and stand out and keep an open mind towards the houses since only a few houses participate in taking girls. Good luck I'm sure you'll do great!

I wore a flowy free people dress and did my full hair and makeup. I was technically overdressed but honestly got a lot of attention because the dress is really cute. Its superficial but dressing a little more then jeans and a t shirt can be a good way to be memorable.

I wore heeled booties! Ask about involvement! Honestly talk about how you are so excited to be in a chapter because you are looking forward to the leadership and involvement opportunities and ask if these opportunities are available immediately upon a bid acceptance. look up positions in a chapter and talk about how you are really interested in a specific one(don't lie though there is a position for everyone). At the same time though don't be completely serious and drill questions, I was silly , cracked jokes , asked about their interests as well. be yourself at the end of the day. that is how you get into a chapter you truly belong in :D i honestly had the best time at winterfest

Info will get posted like a week to a few days before winterfest. no it definitely does guarantee a bid. chapters who are accepting a large spring class will usually do a mixer or something before offering bids. No it does not usually. don't depend on your legacy status, even in fall, it really doesn't mean much 99% of the time unless you're a current in house legacy or your mom is still currently very involved with her chapter(through large donations, or career-wise). only about 2 chapters that i know of really take legacies into consideration.

I did too! my chapter only accepted 3 girls so it is for sure possible because the odds were working against me. GET THERE EARLY AND MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON FLEEK Go to the chapters booths (that you like) that you know are taking girls first (for sure posts about that will come soon) then go to chapters booths that you liked but are not taking girls or you are not sure if they are. this can help get your name in for fall rush if you impress them a lot. ask about how you can be as involved as possible. maybe even ask about there spring philanthropy or something? anyway you can stand out take it. when the sister i was talking to started becoming more interested in me then the other 2 girls we were talking to in my group i knew i was as good as gold. i have faith that if you go in there with confidence and a positive personality amazing things will happen
