sorority spring rush (winterfest)
by: spring rushCan girls who have participated in spring rush in the past give us some advice? What should we expect and prepare for? Should we get recs? I rushed in fall but dropped and my rho gam really recommended that I try spring rush and I really want it to be more successful for me!

No recs, you fill out a quick form and can note if you're legacy. At this point, it's about the connections you have within the sorority. Make friends with these sisters! There is a sister at winter fest usually talking to a group of 5+ girls at once, so make your you look and act memorable. You write down your name on a sheet and they may contact you for a follow up.

How can you make a good impression if you don't really have friends in that chapter?

Knowing girls in any sorority is good for you. If they are pc16, chances are they can tell their BIG about you or they met someone who trust whoever they recommend. Don't stress too much, the sisters recruiting you will get a feel for who you are, just be yourself! Trust the system!

I did winterfest last year & got a bid. Honestly just go to winterfest with an open mind & talk to all the sororities even if you're not sure they're taking a spring pledge class, I had no idea the sorority I'm in was taking girls until I got called back. It's okay if youre not friends with girls in the sorority, I didn't know anyone, but it definitely does help. When you go to winterfest try to look you're best Bc you want to stand out. Dress cute/casual & do your hair & makeup. Ask the girls at the tables lots of questions about their sororities bc they want to see that you're interested! Overall just be yourself & don't stress about getting a bid from a "top" sorority.

At winterfest there will probably be 5-10 PNMs talking to one girl so it's difficult to talk a lot about yourself. Try to ask questions & relate them back to you. Like say that in high school or here at fsu you've enjoyed holding leadership positions and want to know more about what kind of leadership opportunities there are within the sorority.

How did the process work on receiving a bid during Spring since there aren't really any set rounds like fall

If the sorority likes you at winterfest they will most likely reach out to you after & invite you back to their house for an event or to lunch/dinner so the sisters can meet you. If they want to give you a bid after that, the recruitment chair will contact to you & offer you one

Can put you on the radar before Winterfest, and some sororities have to have a rec in order to pledge a PNM. If a sorority LOVES you, is one of the ones that requires a rec, and wants to offer you a bid, they will probably ask one of their advisors to write a rec for you, but why make them work so hard?

Does it help to have a lot of friends in a specific sorority's PC 16? I don't really know the older girls but almost all of my friends are in the PC 16
