Why is the tier system so important to everyone to the point where you need to tear down other sororities when one chapter gets ranked higher than another?

I've noticed anytime one chapter moves up in ranking, people start attacking them. Don't they realize things change and some chapters do actually improve. Stop hating on all the ones that did well this year. So many jealous girls on GR !!!!!!!!
