being in a lower tier

by:

Have any girls in lower tier sororities ever felt judged, excluded, or embarrassed because of their letters? Is it hard for you T make friends in other chapters or keep friends that went in too Tier houses? Or is most of the judgement coming from this site

literally all the judgment comes from this site in real life nobody cares what letters you wear because we're all one big greek community. i'm not going to talk to you just because my sorority is "higher ranked" than yours. be friends with whoever!!!

Honestly once all the makeup comes off today, a lot of girls in the upper tier aren't that different from lower ones.

I hope this is true. I had a good rush because I am outgoing (and on the pretty side). I made it to an upper tier house and now I am feeling terrified that I will not fit in. In my normal life I do not like to make a fuss over how I look and I definitely do not like to fixate on my image. Now I am surrounded by gorgeous sisters and I feel like I have to keep being someone I am not. I did it during rush because it felt like the right way to do it but now I am worried. I preffed a lower mid house too and now I wish I had ranked them higher because maybe I would have been happier there with less pressure. :/

That's why you shouldn't put on a show during rush, put on a face that doesn't represent who you truly are, because after a bid day… You're stuck with a bunch of girls who you truly don't fit in with, it's too late now… Best of luck to you.

Thank you. Thinking on it, I wish recruitment was more than just one week. Nothing against the girls in my house, they're nice and most seem really sweet, but I feel like with more time I could have figured out that it is not where I belong. It doesn't seem fair to them or me. Now I am just hoping for the best.

If you don't love your house and feel you may have felt more at home in another, you can rerush! A girl in my sorority ("upper middle") was in a "top tier" and rerushed for a sorority in which she felt more welcomed.

Tiers do not matter now and definitely won't when you graduate. They're dictated by guys on how "hot" the girls are. That is literally it. You should never feel embarrassed wearing your letters, and if you do, why did you join? Not gonna lie, you will meet people that are tier obsessed and will think they're better than you because their chapter is "higher." Don't let it bother you! If someone thinks they're better than you because of what sorority/ fraternity they're in, that is their prerogative. Live your life, bond with your sisters, enjoy your time here at the greatest university in the country. These are the greatest years of your life, don't let others dictate how you feel. You'll regret that in the long run.

the only people who are going to care/judge you based on tiers are stupid freshman who have nothing else to obsess over other than greek life. not gonna lie, in the middle/lower sororities it sometimes feels like you are judged based on your letters your first year of college. but after that I don't think anyone really gives af

My house is usually "ranked" mid/upper mid/lower upper. Whatever. I have a great social life with friends in almost every house, sorority and fraternity. I go to lots of parties, meet lots of guys, get asked to formals and other stuff all the time. People like me for me. If a girl is nice and fun to be around and looks good then that's all that matters. No one cares about your letters.

I think the biggest thing to remember is, when you rushed and were in your Rho Gam group could you instantly tell who would be in what house? If I pointed to a random girl at FSU could you tell what house she was in? 9/10 no you couldn't because each house is so diverse and has so many different mixtures of girls, and honestly in that way there's almost 1/2 tiers.

I'm in a lower house here and it's not uncommon for my sisters to hit it off with a guy in like Pi Kapp, Theta Chi, Phi Delt, etc. and when they ask about actually becoming a thing they'll turn them down and play it off as if there was never anything going on between them. Granted there are definitely other factors that play into it, but one of them for sure is that they don't want to be known as the guy dating the girl in XYZ. We don't get discriminated against outright, but it's little things like that that make the difference. Personally, I'm happy with my decision because I know that any of my sisters would do anything for me. I would never go anywhere else.

A jerk like that doesn't want to be part of "a thing." He just wants a piece of ass wearing the right letters to impress his bros.

I agree. Anway, there are lots of frats filled with great guys who want to be with the right girl regardless of if she is a DDD, KKG or GDI. If you don't want to be judged in a shallow manner, stop surrounding yourself with shallow guys!
