by: One more timeIF YOU WANT A BID FROM ANY HOUSE, DO NOT DROP ANY HOUSE FOR PREF AND THINK YOU WILL GET SNAPPED. Go to all your prefs even if you can't see yourself in one of them. Dropping a house at this point puts you at the very end of the list for a snap bid at any house. If you end up with a bid from a house that you don't think you want - TAKE THAT BID! You need to give that chapter a choice. If you have three prefs then you rank all three houses in your order of choice, if you have two prefs you put those two in order, if one pref you put that house down. Do not omit a house that you pref from your rankings. That’s called suiciding and you may not get a bid at all. Now, if you put ABC as your first choice and ABC has ranked you high enough to make their bid list before they reach quota then you will match with ABC. If not, then you might match with your number two choice if they rank you high enough. If not your number two then maybe you match with your third choice. If not a match there, then you will be a quota addition at any of the three depending on different factors. No one ever knows who is a quota addition or how the matching went down so don't worry about it, just celebrate your bid! If you have ranked all the houses where you preffed you will get a bid at one of the three. Similar situation with preffing at two instead of three – rank them both and you will get a bid. If you pref at one house you will get a bid there unless you really, really blow it, but don’t ever do that

Snap bids - Houses may choose to offer snap bids if they are under quota or under membership total. It happens so don't judge. You are only eligible for one if you were dropped from all houses before prefs AND you went to every house you could during rounds. If you cut any house then you are very unlikely to get a snap bid. If you do get snapped, very few people will know about it and you will go to bid day with everyone else - take it and good for you.
DO NOT THINK THAT IF YOU DROP A HOUSE FOR PREF THAT YOU WILL GET SNAPPED.

That's true, some girls choose to not get a bid at all by not listing all their preffed houses. Snap bids do not go to those girls. Ever.

Some chapters will give out bids a couple weeks after recruitment right? I saw this happen with someone on my floor.

It's very, very unlikely for you to get a snap bid if you dropped any house during recruitment. A snap bid is not your chance for a do over just because you didn't like your options. Girls who were dropped right before pref are the ones most likely to get snapped; the snap bid list is for girls who were dropped by chapters but who didn't drop any house they had a chance to go back to.

There is some confusion between a Snap Bid and COB (Continuous Open Bidding). Snaps happen only between prefs and Bid Day. On Bid Day there are no more Snap Bids. COB's can happen at any time for chapters who didn't make quota or total, but only if they choose to.

this is not necessarily true. when I went through recruitment, I preffed at two houses. I could only really see myself in one of those houses, so I suicided. my top choice did not offer me a bid, but I received a phone call from my rho gamma, saying that the house that I had dropped off of my bid list was offering me a snap bid.

What if I dropped before pref? Are there any chances a house from an earlier round may give me a snap bid?

You just proved the point. You did not get your number one choice by suiciding them. They filled their bid list before they got to you. So many mistaken girls thinking that suiciding helps them match better. The house that snapped you didn't make quota so they snapped.

You have nothing to lose by reaching out to them and letting them know you are still interested. They have no way of knowing that otherwise.
