volunteer history during rushing

I had a couple family members of mine pass away from breast cancer a few years back-- after this I got really involved with Relay for Life and The Susan G Komen Foundation. These are the main volunteering events that I've participated in in HS and college. Obviously Zeta is all for breast cancer awareness and it would be awesome to be a part of an org. whose philanthropy Im in love with, but I feel that the girls rushing will think think I'm trying too hard and being fake mentioning something that obviously affiliates with their chapter. I don't want to kiss up but I want them to know that its extremely important to me.
How do I tiptoe around this situation b/c I don't think I should bring up such heavy material on Day 1 of recruitment.

Honestly I would wait until philanthropy round and if you are still in the mix with zta at that point sharing your passion for their philanthropy is fine. I think any house would want to know if a pnm is interested in their philanthropy because it is a huge part of the work they do all year. All the Fsu houses are very active with their philanthropies and do amazing work. Zetas breast cancer philanthropy is actually one of the biggest events. They really do a great job with it.
