chi o is really that smart. they look at gpa's heavily through recruitment and in order to be initiated you have to have a 3.5 your first semester

They don't initiate their fall class until spring because they have to verify that the new members got above a 3.5 gpa, if not they don't get initiated

How does XO get around the university requirement to initiate all pledges by a certain date in the fall?
XO must have given up popularity for grades. I can't remember a time when XO was considered a top sorority here.

The chapter of Chi Omega here is pretty old so I think it's a policy that's been around before FSU started to set dates for initiation. I think it's a great policy that other chapters should set in place as well but I can see why it's not universal.

I think GPA is important, but you also need to tke into consideration what someone is majoring in. If a girl is majoring in communications, elementary ed, or sociology it's a lot easier to get that 3.5 gpa than a girl makoring in engineering. I guess that's why the chi o I know is an elementary education major. Cupcake major = easy A's.

Did you teach yourself how to read and write? Did you teach yourself how to count? No? Then maybe you shouldn't call them "cupcake majors." Elementary Ed is not the most academically demanding major, but it's stressful and challenging in a lot of ways that stem majors couldn't tolerate.

I agree that all majors are valuable but I completely disagree with the fact that Stem majors wouldn't be able to handle elementary ed. While it is necessary (someone has to do it), I'm a stem major and would 100% have an easier time as an education major than in my own major, however it is not what I enjoy doing. It's an unrealistic perception that all majors are equally demanding just think about it. However if you enjoy teaching then there is nothing wrong with it, but you do have to accept that there are a bunch of majors that are 20 times harder. Do what you love and screw what everyone else thinks, the difficulty of your major does not define you as a person
