how do fraternities treat student athletes pledging?

If you're on the football/basketball team and baseball kinda... you don't have to do anything. If you're on a club team or some weird sport then you're the same as every other pledge

It really depends both on the sport and the fraternity. You're likely to get more slack if you play football or even baseball and basketball. Every fraternity also takes a different approach to what they expect from the athletes. Some make them go through the process like regular pledges, while others (Pike) just waiver their dues and have them memorize some of the history and ritual of the fraternity. At that point though you might as well no even join a fraternity
