I'm wondering this too. bc my rc told me that alpha phi and delta zeta are the most selective and cut the most girls...des that mean they take the least amount of girls? like for bid day

Yes they do. Most of you will be cut. Don’t let that discourage you from other chapters though. Obviously Aphi or DZ doesn’t see something in you that the other chapters see in you. Keep an open mind.

yea aphi and DZ are both known for intentionally taking less girls than they need so that they can COB - informally recruit - girls that they've cherry picked. if you're worried about them dropping you but you're really serious about them and feel like you'd be unhappy in any other house, let them drop you and then go through their informal recruitment process and see if they actually would want you as an individual! however - keep in mind that often sororities don't stand out during recruitment but end up being the place for you, or you love them and rush and find out they're not for you - if you want genuine advice on how to be happiest in our greek system, trust the process and don't worry about the results. some chapters aren't for some girls but you would be surprised just how different your recruitment experience vs your pledging and active experience with a chapter can be.

What do u mean by "cherry picked"? Does that mean they cut girls they really liked during recruitment but they know that they'll want to recruit them later or what does that mean? Because if they cherry picked u at recruitment why didn't they just recruit u during rush instead of waiting to COB?

I'm going to assume DePaul uses NPC's RFM during formal recruitment and will therefore explain how it is that DePaul's popular chapters drop the largest number of pnms during formal.

The NPC's RFM rules of formal recruitment force sorority chapters with high return rates (the popular and populated chapters) to drop the largest number of pnms. It is up to those popular chapters which women they cut from their lists.

Chapters that are not as popular with pnms (and who traditionally have a smaller total number of women) are allowed by same NPC rules to invite larger numbers of pnms than the popular ones do to their formal events. Each chapter again makes their own decision as to which pnms they invite.

This is how pnms might end up with chapters on their invite list whom they ranked near the bottom of their list after each round.

APhi and DZ may be more selective at DePaul, but NPC rules make them be, In the end any pnm who follows all the formal recruitment rules and maximizes her options should receive a bid and be very thankful for same.

I think what she means is that they don't pick "mediocre" (I mean by their standards, aka girls they don't REALLY want) girls in order to fit quota. If they cob girls they really want through the year that may have not rushed they can get a house full of girls they really want

If a popular group truly wants you during formal recruitment, you will be invited back.

No group waits for "some future date" to allegedly cherry-pick new members.

Sororities WANT to meet quota and WANT full membership rolls by Bid Day. It pays the bills faster and leaves more time for studying rather than constant COBing.

Having a full and functioning new member class involved with the entire initiated membership by one specific time (BID DAY) is the goal of all NPC sororities.

Houses that make quota, and by so doing go over chapter total (like APhi and DZ most often do) will not be in the market to informal/COB anyway. A house at or above chapter total is not allowed to informal/COB.
